Let me introduce you!
My real name is Sarou Sao but call me Sa and i was born in Cambodia Battambang in 1979.
In 1985 me and my family moved to Netherland because i was sick at that time.
After i got a success operation on my heart i start to dance classic ballet at my young ages.
Teach by my teacher from Cambodia who also teach us to learn khmer language and writing khmer.
Many years i live here in Netherland with many others khmer people who are also moved to Netherland in year 1980 till 1989.
Maybe 4 or 5 times in a year our Cambodian comunity planned a party's for Cambodian peoples who lives here, we had to show dutch people about our culture by having a ceremony with monks and later in the evening dancing our traditional dance, show khmer fashion runways for them and later in the evening we where dancing with our Khmer band who was formed by people who lives here.
Since i was young i grew up in khmer culture with lovely dresses, accessories like necklace ect.
Every time when i have all those things on, i feel like a cinderella.
That's why i'm proud to be Cambodian! Even if Cambodia had suffer alot from the war (Khmer rouge) but still now our khmer fashions start growing again.
The first fashion week show was start in 2011 in Phnom Penh.
There are different model agency now in Cambodia, so let's hope we'll show them how great our fashion are.
Cambodian fashion is synonymous with glamour, beauty and style. Just like other countries in Cambodia, they pay respect to their previous generations. This is the reason why they make fashion, culture and religion an important part of their life.
